10 June 2024 Absence Policy Changes and the Impacts The Absence Policy is changing and coming into effect later this year. We talked briefly about those changes in a previous communication – click here to read that article. The change will impact the way managers manage sickness absence as we are moving away from the Bradford Factor Score, meaning there is a calculation and triggers that need to be considered. This is the managers responsibility and below are examples and information of how this change will impact managers. Changes for Line Managers Managers should look at whether an employee has triggered a step in the policy when the employee returns to work and mention if they have triggered at the return to work interview. If they have triggered as per the policy, managers should arrange a Sickness Absence Review meeting with appropriate notice - see Sickness Absence Policy and associated Guidance for more support. Additionally, managers can contact HR Ops if they require advice on the next steps, policy principles/process, or if there are any special circumstances that may require consideration (e.g. disability related absence). The existing policy is live until we introduce the Absence changes in September. Previous Article Next Article Please login or register to post comments.
